John Mayer and Katy Perry met up with Allison Williams and her boyfriend, CollegeHumor CEO Ricky Van Veen, for an afternoon hike in the Hollywood Hills last week. The foursome chatted and laughed as they walked along the trail.

Katy and Allison have been pals for a while and attended the Grammys together last month. Allison's award-season run, which also included a Golden Globes win for Girls, continued with a stop by Vanity Fair's Oscars afterparty. She's since stayed in the spotlight while promoting the second season of Girls, which is currently airing new episodes. Allison chatted with Boston Common magazine about feeling pressure to succeed, saying, "It never, ever came from my family. . . . It came from my own ambition. It came from Greenwich Academy, these people around me - these high-achieving, highly intelligent people. But the people I really admired were [those] who realized they were not perfect. Perfection is exhausting."

Jessica Chastain, I’ve decided, had the best Oscar night of anyone.


Think about it. She wears the best dress she’s worn in two or three years, a delicate light copper with her medium copper hair and she looked spectacular. And she KNEW it, because she showed up on the carpet kind of the first minute she could. That’s not usual for an actress of her calibre.
Here’s my theory, though.

She knew – knew without a doubt – that she wasn’t going to win. That’s my opinion. All the handicapping had her juuuuust behind Jennifer Lawrence, and Lawrence had two other factors on her side – Harvey Weinstein, and a movie that wasn’t about torture.
So there was no way Chastain was going to win, and, knowing that, she could have a stress-free party night. Did you see her in the front row, clapping for everyone – not just people from her own film, and genuinely excited for certain wins? You can’t have that kind of a good time if you’re worried about forgetting your speech. You can’t possibly be focused on other peoples’ successes if you’re obsessing about your own. Jessica Chastain didn’t have a chance, so she put the idea out of her head, and maybe I’m naïve, but I’m having a hard time believing she didn’t have a blast.

Jennifer Garner and her middle child, Seraphina Affleck, made a pit stop at one of their favorite Brentwood coffee joints today. The Starbucks regulars left with a full tray, which Jen balanced while holding Sera's hand on their way back to the car. Jen kept warm in a gray sweater and printed scarf, while Sera sported bright pink and purple - much like she did when she and her dad, Ben Affleck, stopped for coffee yesterday.

Ben's directorial duties have kept him busy this year, and Jen has worked on, and promoted several films. Their A-list careers haven't stopped them from clocking in quality time with Seraphina and her siblings, Violet and Samuel - make sure to check out all of Ben and Jen's sweetest family moments of 2012.
